FORAGE

Today’s Forage is a performance in which a ceramic toolset of dinnerware is used. While a story about the tools our ancestors used for foraging and which animals still do, was being told, the participants were asked to explore the tools and prepare the food that was presented on the metal plates. This project addresses that living as we do with mass-produced food, markets, and restaurants in every town, and giant supermarket complexes that are often just down the road, it takes some imagination to think of finding food every day in the natural environment.

We’ve developed to a stage in which gathering food from our natural environment is not our main daily task anymore. However, if we look at the animal kingdom, this is still a main activity of the day. How do they use tools when they are foraging? Listen to the video to see the performance while the story is being told.Today’s Forage is a performance in which a ceramic toolset of dinnerware is used.
